PRESIDENT SIFREAL EXECUTIVE ORDER WHAT ? Information reaching me this evening from Radio 5 says that President Sirleaf had carried on order Executive Order number 65. Prohibiting the mass movement of citizens and assembling of citizens in the streets during the senatorial elections announcement result? Hmmmmmmmm is there an expected far play of the senatorial election result or what? Will the result be in favor of her son or what? But the question that comes to mind is that, which part of the Liberian Constitution calls for the Executive Order of the office of the President of the Republic of Liberia? Christian Nelson, Bartum Kulah, Musa Willie, Lawrence Randall, Willie Livingstone I want all of us to remember that the constitution of Liberia is the organic Law of the Nation and higher than any other Policy which we may referred to as law. Article 2 of the Liberian Constitution says: This Constitution is the supreme and fundamental law of Liberia and its provisions shall have binding force and effect on all authorities and persons throughout the Republic. Any laws, treaties, statutes, decrees, customs and regulations found to be inconsistent with it shall, to the extent of the inconsistency, be void and of no legal effect. The Supreme Court, pursuant to its power of judicial review, is empowered to declare any inconsistent laws unconstitutional. Article 4 of the Liberian Constitution says: The principles contained in this Chapter shall be fundamental in the governance of the Republic and shall serve as guidelines in the formulation of legislative, executive and administrative directives, policy-making and their execution.
