PRESS RELEASE - January 23, 2014 Fatal Shooting in Everett EVERETT, Wash. – Major Crimes detectives are investigating a fatal shooting after officers respond to a shots fired call. At about 5:00 p.m. on January 23, 2014, officers responded to a shots fired call in the 9900 block of 12th Ave W. Arriving officers found a male with stab wounds and a deceased female inside an apartment. The female had been shot. At this time, no one else is believed to be involved in the incident. The male was transported to Providence Medical Center and his current medical status is unknown. Two children were in the apartment during the incident and have been taken into temporary protective custody. Neither appeared injured. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are investigating the incident. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will respond to the scene and take custody of the body to determine identity as well as cause and manner of death. ###
