PRESS RELEASE: 3/28/14 City of Pittsfield Senior Tax Work-Off Program for fiscal year 2015 Mayor Dan Bianchi announces the fiscal year 2015 Senior Citizens Work Off Program. Applications are now available to Pittsfield residential property owners 60 years of age and older. Work-Off Program applications must be received by April 30, 2014. There will be a limit of two participants per eligible property; however, the total abatement cannot exceed the maximum exemption of $1,000.00. Income eligibility shall be determined by using the locally adopted income eligibility guidelines of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 59, Section 5, clause 41C. The selection of participants will be based on need and shall be valid for one year. In the event that other opportunities become available, qualified volunteers not selected for this program will be placed on a waiting list in order of need. Active municipal employees are not eligible for the Senior Citizen Tax Work-Off Program. This program can be combined with other exemptions. For a married individual, yearly income cannot exceed $34,158.00. For a single individual, yearly income cannot exceed $28,933.00. Up to eight volunteer positions will be available for fiscal year 2015. All volunteer work must be completed between June 1, 2014 and November 30, 2014. An application for this program can be found on the City website by logging into cityofpittsfield.org/city_hall/board_of_assessors/index.php or you may attain one by going to the Assessors’ office located in City Hall room 108, 70 Allen St. Applications must be received by April 30, 2014.
