PRESS RELEASE (1) SOUTHERN THUNDER: AN ALBUM IN CREATION by N. Shemrah Fallon (SoundSource) November 2, 2014 - New Haven, CT - Hoosier and long time music aficionado, John Rehmel, recently composed a series of songs (lyrics and music) that poured out from his heart and soul, extraordinarily. Realizing he had a compilation of something that could potentially be significant contribution to the music worlds of Southern rock and blues, John decided to turn a dream into reality. He proceeded to pick out from the cream of the crop, Southern rock and blues recording/performing artists that he thought could best interpret his song creations. His decisions landed upon: Southern rocker, Gary Lee Jeffries; heavy blues band, OTIS; and blues-rock guitarist, Chris Walker; and perhaps a few more musical mystery guests. This coming week, Jeffries, known for his hard hitting vocals with former bands, Asphalt Ballet (Virgin Records) and Alligator Stew (Hogleg Records), award winning music videos (MTV, CMT and GAC-TV) and songs featured on TV and in film, will record lead vocals on a selection of Southern Thunder songs at the Chief Lemon Head Studio (Lewis, IN). He is globally embraced by fans for his down-to-earth honesty, emblazoned in his songs of pride and true grit, and has been reputed as a “… singer of the first rank”, by Luc Brunot, of French rock magazine, Bands of Dixie. What Gary Jeffries gets out of his throat is truly intoxicating. He just has a cool, raspy voice that goes to the marrow touts Lars Schuckar, Idioglosia Musikreviews (Germany). Jeffries is joined by talents Randy Trent (drums), and Steven Fletcher (electric bass) - members of the Gary Lee Jeffries Band. Reputed by DJ and music reviewer, Luc Brunot, Sweet Home Music (France,) as … an endearing rocker, with an honest and uncompromising artist who doesnt calculate and who gives all to the music he loves, Jeffries will no doubt get the job done. Other album heavy talents include: Boone Froggett, lead vocalist of the OTIS heavy blues band (Kentucky, US) whose self titled album is hailed as stunning by Billy Gibbins of ZZ Top; and blues-rock guitarist, Chris Walker (Reading, England), who has supported such bands as Santana, Saxon, Ultravox and Mothers Fines, and was recently named one of the top six Guitarists of the Year (UK). Southern Thunder will be released in early 2015, according to Rehmel who is excited to see his CD baby come to life.
