PRESS RELEASE 18th Aug 2013 A General Body Meeting of Melli Sumbuk Zonal Guthi of Sikkim Newar Guthi was held on 18th August 2013 in the Melli South Sikkim, The Local Sakha Guthis that falls under this Zone is Melli, Melli Dara, Payuu, Sumbuk, Turuk, Saddam, . Bhaju R.K. Pradhan, President, Sikkim Newar Guthi presided over the meeting along with Vice President Bhaju Surendra K.Pradhan,Vice President Kalpana Pradhan,General Secretary Bhaju Mani Kr.Pradhan,Gen Secretary, Bhaju Rohit Pradhan,Treasurer & Suman Pradhan along with better halves of Presiddnt & Gen Sec SNG. An election for the new Executive Committee was also held. The following persons were elected:- (1) President : Bhaju N B Pradhan ( Melli Dara ) (2) Vice President : Bhaju Durga Pradhan ( Turuk ) (3) Secretary : Bhaju S B Pradhan ( Sumbuk ) (4) Treasurer : Bhaju Gawesh Pradhan (Saddam) (5) Sec.Coordination: Bhaju D B Pradhan ( Payuu) Election Commissioners for Election of Melli Sumbuk Zone Bhaju Dinesh Pradhan Bhaju Dr.KN Pradhan Spokesperson from Sumbuk stressed on the need to reorganize & Reactivate Sakha Guthi for Sumbuk and co operate with SNG for the larger interest of the Newars of Sikkim. Bhaju Guvasna Pradhan highlighted issues that needed prompt actions and requested that Local Newari Dress be made mandatory for all Newars of Sikkim during festivals and requested Indrajatra be celebrated in the most befitting manner as The State Event and maximize participation from all Sikkimese as it’s a religious function . Member from Turuk informed that all newars irrespective of their religion should participate in Newa Activities and increase brotherhood with all newars. Informed the house the need to celebrate more of our Rich Newari Culture and practices. Also stressed on the need to encourage Youths to participate more frequently and learn our rich traditions. Member from Paiyuu guthi informed the house the need to set up newari cultural centre in South for better learning and understanding of our Rich Newari Culture. Requested that all Local Sakha Guthis was activated all over Sikkim and jointly work under the Banner of Sikkim Newa Guthi. Members unanimously requested that participation in the Upcoming Indrajatra as a family then just individuals AND MAKE GRAND SUCCESS.
