PRESS RELEASE ACT announces Rodney candidate ACT Leader Jamie Whyte is pleased to announce ACT’s candidate for Rodney. “Our Rodney candidate will be ACTs Vice President, Beth Houlbrooke. Beth has strong ties to this region and I’m glad she has agreed to do her best to grow ACT’s party vote in the area,” says Mr Whyte. Beth lives in Matakana. She has spent most of the last 20 years in self-employment and as an active community volunteer, and is currently an elected member of the Rodney Local Board. “I have always believed in private property rights, and that hard work should be rewarded,” says Beth. “So I am looking forward to introducing Rodney to ACTs plans to introduce lower and flatter taxes and a three strike policy for burglary. “After many years as a business owner, and now being exposed to the regulation industry within local government, I have first-hand experience of how red tape is hindering productivity. ACT will continue to push for regulatory reform. “National needs a reliable coalition partner so that New Zealand can retain a stable government that values freedom, choice, and personal responsibility.
