PRESS RELEASE AL-MAKURA ANNOUNCES SILAS AGARA AS DEPUTY GOVERNOR: After wide ranging consultations with citizens and political stakeholders in Nasarawa State and in tandem with the inclusive attitude of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and the democratic culture of the APC, we wish to state that His Excellency Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has announced SILAS AGARA, an Economist by scholarship and most recently the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports Development as his running mate and Deputy Governor in the forthcoming 2015 Governorship elections. Silas Agara was born on 4th April 1972 and best described as a young, humble, astute and vibrant- politician of repute who has held the portfolio of Honourable Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development in Nasarawa State from 2003 to 2005 and was reappointed Commissioner for Sports from 2006 to 2008 Agara grew up in the bold and unbridled culture of student union activism but has always remained humble and level headed. Agara is passionate about serving the disadvantaged in society and has held the position of Vice President, Economics Students Association SPS Keffi and member Students Union Parliament in University of Jos. Agara is a sports enthusiast who was Vice President, Nigerian Cycling Federation in 2005 and most recently won and emerged as the APC candidate for the House of Representatives elections into the Akwanga-Wamba-Nasarawa Eggon Federal Constituency Silas Agara understands the unwavering commitment of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to institute a government of transparency, rapid development, financial probity and discipline and provide a voice for the voiceless in Nasarawa State as he has served as Deputy Director General of Ta’al Campaign Organization from 2010 to 2011.
