PRESS RELEASE CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR MESSAGE The year that is - TopicsExpress

PRESS RELEASE CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR MESSAGE The year that is about to end has been hectic with strikes and demonstrations over pertinent issues which include: 1) The Second Tier Pension 2) The Stoppage of Salaries of some teachers under the guise of ghosts and not seeking financial clearance before their employment. Another challenge that confronted us was our inability to agree on the minimum wage for the year that is about to draw to a close. The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) recognises the fact that these inconveniences brought with them pain, discouragement and disillusionment with the job which negatively impacted on the output of our members. In spite of the hardship that members are going through as a result of the aforementioned challenges, the GNAT believes that there are brighter days ahead and wishes to encourage our members not to relax in the discharge of their duty towards their pupils/ students and the community as a whole. The Association pledges to continue to do all it can to ensure that we get all that is due us in the coming year to make the teaching profession an enviable one. We wish all our members a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year! M. V. V. K. DEMANYA ACTING GENERAL SECRETARY (GNAT)
