PRESS RELEASE Determined to showcase the huge tourism and investment potentials of the state, the Abia state government has approved a two day Easter carnival/cantata scheduled for Umuahia between 21st and 22nd April 2014 to make up for the rescheduled December 2013 carnival. The event which is designed to attract local and foreign arts would be instituted as an annual one. A statement by the chief of staff,Cosmos Ndukwe who is the chairman,Central Planning Committee of the event said the carnival/cantata will predominantly be a blend of Abia’s rich cultural heritage and contempory arts. According to the chief of staff, the state government wishes to further propagate the message of elegance in simplicity as the carnival will further promote rich moral values. He maintained that the cantata, the second and final leg of the two day event would be a harvest of praises to God to herald His salvation for mankind and appreciate His grace that had sustained the government and people of Abia in many remarkable ways. Mr Ndukwe said the Central Planning Committee of the event has been mandated to reach out to members of the organized Private Sector for sponsorship and partnership.
