PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 05, 2014 The Heliconia Foundation For Young Professionals wishes to extend its deepest condolences to the family of former Senator, Minister of Government, Member of Parliament for St. Ann’s East and People’s National Movement stalwart Mr. Martin Joseph. Mr. Joseph will be remembered by the Heliconia Foundation not only for his stellar service to the Republic but also for his contribution to building the Foundation. Mr. Joseph’s commitment to the development of the Heliconia Foundation and to our primary objective of increased youth participation in policy formation and national decision making was well-known and appreciated by our members. The Foundation remembers Mr. Joseph as one of the key organizers and speakers at the Foundation’s launch at the Mariott Hotel in July 2013 and Mr. Joseph had, on more than one occasion, taken time out of his busy schedule to meet with the Foundation’s officers to give his expert advice on structuring the organization. The Foundation also recognizes Mr. Joseph’s charitable zeal and spirit as evidenced by the contribution of his company S & J Associates which has been one of the main financial donors of the recently established Heliconia Foundation For Young Professionals Scholarship Trust Fund. This Fund aims to advance the educational development of the youth from low-income households pursuing university education and Mr. Joseph had also given advice on aspects of financial best practice to promote the transparency and accountability of the Fund. The Foundation beseeches citizens and primarily the nation’s youth to take some time out of their busy schedules to reflect on the life of a model statesman, a gentle soul and true patriot with a view to emulating Mr. Joseph’s attitude and values.
