PRESS RELEASE It is with great joy that we received the good news of the Holy Father, Pope Francis’s decision to canonize Blessed Joseph Vaz, the Apostle of Sri Lanka. Our hearts are filled with gratitude to God Almighty for this long-awaited blessing. We offer our heartfelt thanks to his Holiness, Pope Francis for the decision not only to number Blessed Joseph Vaz among the Saints of the Universal Church but also for giving us the privilege of having the Canonisation on our own soil during his visit to our country. More details will be notified later on regarding the canonisation. We appeal to all the Parishes and Institutions of the Catholic Church to say a special prayer of thanks-giving at the end of all the Masses next Sunday, the 21st of September 2014, and soon after to peal joyously the bells of all Churches.
