PRESS RELEASE June 19, 2014 On June 18, 2014, at approximately 11:45 p.m. the City of Burlington Police Department was dispatched to the area of the 400block of Rutgers Avenue due to an alert resident hearing some sort of glass breaking. Officers responded quickly and did a canvas of the area, finding a rear broken glass window in the rear of a vacant residence on the 1000 block of Salem Road. While checking the back yards, Officers found the suspect, identified as Jeremiah Brown, age 35, of Chesterfield, New Jersey, hiding nearby armed with a knife and a small amount of marijuana. Due to the alert neighbor and quick response of Patrol Officers, Brown was unable to make entry into the residence and had to hide from Officers. He was taken into custody without injury to an Officer or resident. Jeremiah Brown was charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. His bail was $41,000 No 10%. Brown was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in default of bail along with another warrant he had out of the Burlington County Sheriffs Department.
