PRESS RELEASE On 8/10/14 at 10:48 A.M. Emmett Public Safety responded to a retail fraud at Harper Village Business District in the 6200 Block of B Drive North. The vehicle fled the scene prior to officers arrival. Responding Emmett PSOs spotted the suspect vehicle on M-66 and attempted to stop it however same fled and led officers through The City of Battle Creek and Pennfield Township. The vehicle and suspects were fleeing in what was determined to be a stolen vehicle out of Ohio and was actively wanted. Near the intersection of Hunter Street and East Avenue North the driver of the vehicle fled on foot. Emmett PSOs pursued the suspects on foot and into a residence in the 400 Block of Emmett Street. The driver was located and arrested for retail fraud, flee and elude, resisting/obstructing, receiving/concealing stolen vehicle, and a extraditable warrant from Ohio. The passenger was found by the Calhoun County Sheriffs Office a short distance away. He was arrested for retail fraud and possession of a controlled substance. Emmett DPS was assisted by Battle Creek Police Department and the Calhoun County Sheriffs Office. Both suspects are at the Calhoun County Jail awaiting arrangement.
