PRESS RELEASE!!! PRESS RELEASE!!! PRESS RELEASE!!! OUR DELEGATES ARE DISCERNING Our attention has been drawn to a release by a group calling itself United Youth for Change which is going about throwing dust into the eyes of the people and disrespecting and insulting the integrity of delegates of which we Patriotic Youth deemed it expedient to address and set the records straight. First and foremost, NPP is a party that truly upholds in high esteem the principles of democracy as such gives every member of our party the opportunity to vote and being voted for. Article 3Ciii of our party’s constitution states emphatically that, “a member shall have the right to contest for any position of office within the party in accordance with rules and regulations governing elections”. In view of this, if any party member feels he is qualified enough per the specifications in article 12D, to lead the party, the least we can do as true party members is to give that person the necessary encouragement and support to bring his expertise and knowledge to bear for overall benefit of the party but not to discourage that person. We must therefore encourage competition in the party but not rivalry which will only destroy us. Issues in 1998 are not the same in 2014 as such will be unfortunate to use it a main determinant to inform our choice of candidature. We found it highly unfortunate and regrettable for some so called Patriots to insult the intelligence of our dear delegates who went through a lot to elect our flag bearer on two occasions describing the choice they made as “mistake” because their choice of candidate could not win, highly unfortunate, uncalled for and must be condemned by all well-meaning patriots in particular and lovers of democracy at large. We therefore demand an unqualified apology from the group to all delegates who voted on those two occasions in particular and the entire party at large for showing gross disrespect of the choice they made. The Patriotic Youth is convinced beyond reasonable doubt that, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo is the best candidate who is in the best shape and position like never before to lead the party to wrestle power from the ruling NDC. Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo is the most competent, visionary, incorruptible leader who has the vision and focus to change our current economic, social and political situations in Ghana. Since Youth for Change have also concede to the fact that Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo is a great politician who has spent most of his precious life serving the party and his nation, we will therefore make a humble apeal to them to come and rally behind us and present this great politician they admit he is, to ensure victory in 2016 We are also using this opportunity to appeal to party members to stay united and desist from using offensive words that will be a tool for our opponents to use against us and as Nana Addo said in his famous Nima declaration we should not step on each others toes we need to unite for the pen-ultimate battle in 2016. Lets also be aware that whoever our support base maybe we should not underestimate and impune on d intelligence of our delegates, they will elect a flagbearer whether Nana or anyone else they will surely punish us for our derogatory words we use on them. Lets be decorous in our choice of words for we are fighting a common foe. We also like to wish all aspirants the best of luck. May the best candidate win.
