PRESS RELEASE REF NO: DM2/5/7 I (17) 05 January 2015 To: All Media Houses DISASTER RELIEF—SEROWE The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) wishes to inform members of the public that 15 households were recently affected by flooding after heavy rainfall on the 24 December 2014 and 02 January 2015 in Serowe. The District Disaster Management Committee in Serowe conducted rapid assessments to determine the damage and needs of those affected. Following that they provided relief measures in the form of temporary shelter (tents) and food baskets. Most of the property damage was collapsed walls of huts, leaking roofs and foodstuff soaked by water. An additional number of bow-tents have been dispatched this Monday 05, 2015 from the NDMO Warehouse in Gaborone to Serowe to supplement the relief stock in anticipation of further possible rainfall. Lastly the District Disaster Management Committee is continuing to monitor the situation and provide assistance to those affected.
