PRESS RELEASE Royal Couple bring help to Topola and visit the family of the deceased firefighter Dejan Lazarevic Belgrade, 17 May 2014 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine brought help to Topola and neighbouring villages today, one of heaviest hit areas by flood in Serbia, and paid respect to the deceased firefighter Dejan Lazarevic at his family home and extended condolences to his wife and children. After arriving in Topola, TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine met with Mr Dragan Jovanovic, the Mayor of Topola and members of emergency committee in this city, who briefed them about the very difficult situation in this municipality. HRH Crown Prince Alexander II was deeply concerned by the range of devastation he witnessed on his way to Topola, and expressed his worries talking to Mayor of Topola and citizens: “On behalf of my family, I extend our deepest condolences to the families of victims who lost their lives in the floods. My family and I will make sure that in this difficult situation we help all citizens of Serbia. I appealed to all members and supporters of the Kingdom of Serbia Association, which is working under my patronage. I asked them put themselves at the disposal of the Department of Emergency Situations and provide maximum support and assistance to the citizens in distress. We have to work together to overcome the difficulties that have overwhelmed many of our citizens. Please follow the instructions and orders of the authorities in charge, because your lives are most important, and each material loss we can compensate by joint effort and work”, said the Crown Prince. Their Royal Highnesses together with Mayor Dragan Jovanovic visited then a village of Natalinci where 30 houses were flooded and brought wardrobe for children there. They visited the Family of the late firefighter, Dejan Lazarevic and extended their condolences to his widow and son and daughter. Their Royal Highnesses also went to the village of Blaznava where the bridge over the Jasenica River collapsed. The Royal Couple met with villagers and encouraged them to follow instruction of authorities and keep themselves and their families out of harm, because the most important thing at the moment is to save lives and show solidarity to those less fortunate. After that Their Royal Highnesses visited the Monastery Nikolje which was completely cut off after the floods, but today the road has been re-opened. SAOPŠTENJE ZA JAVNOST Kraljevski par odneo pomoć u Topolu i posetio porodicu tragično nastradalog vatrogasca Dejana Lazarevića Beograd, 17. maj 2014. – Njihova Kraljevska Visočanstva Prestolonaslednik Aleksandar II i Princeza Katarina odneli su pomoć danas u Topolu i okolna sela, jedno od najteže pogođenih područja poplavama u Srbiji, i posetili porodicu tragično nastradalog vatrogasca Dejana Lazarevića i njegovoj udovici i deci izrazili saučešće. Po dolasku u Topolu, Nj.K.V. Prestolonaslednik Aleksandar II i Princeza Katarina sreli su se sa g-dinom Draganom Jovanovićem, predsednikom opštine Topola i članovima štaba za vanredne situacije koji su ih upoznali sa izuzetno teškom situacijom u ovoj opštini. Nj.K.V. Prestolonaslednik Aleksandar II bio je duboko pogođen razmerama prirodne katastrofe koja je bila vidljiva na putu od Beograda do Topole, i izrazio svoju zabrinutost u razgovoru sa predsednikom opštine Topola i građanima: „U ime moje porodice i u svoje ime, izražavam najdublje saučešće porodicama koje su izgubile svoje najmilije u poplavama. Moja porodica i ja učinićemo sve da u ovoj teškoj situaciji pomognemo svima koji su u nevolji. Uputio sam poziv svim članovima i simpatizerima udruženje Kraljevina Srbija koje radi pod mojim pokroviteljstvom. Zamolio sam ih da se stave na raspolaganje Sektoru za vanredne situacije i pruže maksimalnu podršku i pomoć sugrađanima koji su u nevolji. Moramo da radimo zajedno kako bismo što pre prevazišli teškoće koje su zadesile veliki broj naših građana. Molim vas da se pridržavate uputstava i naloga nadležnih službi, jer su vaši životi najvažniji, a svaki materijalni gubitak možemo nadoknaditi zajedničkim trudom i radom“, poručio je Prestolonaslednik. Njihova Kraljevska Visočanstva posetili su onda selo Natalinci gde je potopljeno 30 kuća i meštanima odneli dečiju garderobu, pelene, hranu i vodu. Zatim su otišli u kuću tragično nastradalog vatrogasca Dejana Lazarevića i njegovoj udovici i deci izrazili saučešće. Njihova Kraljevska Visočanstva posetili su i selo Blaznava u kome je voda odnela most preko Jasenice. Kraljevski par je razgovarao sa meštanima i poručio im da moraju da poštuju uputstva nadležnih i da prvenstveno spasu sebe i svoje najbliže, jer je u ovoj situaciji najvažnije spašavanje ljudskih života i pokazivanje solidarnosti sa onima koji su najugroženiji. Njihova Kraljevska Visočanstva otišli su i do manastira Nikolje koji je bio potpuno odsečen od sveta, ali je danas put ka manastiru ponovo otvoren.
