Kristine and Tracey, both of which have ME (Myalgic Encephalopathy), and in total 15 years have been in a dark room 24 hours a day. Where every mental, social or physical exertion may be too much. For a period of six years was director Pål Winsents in Film Phenomenon follow their life with shielding from unnecessary external stimuli or influences. He believes the advice in the guide should be removed, and says the following to NRK.no: - They go far in recommending the sickest patients almost complete shielding. It is both wrong and dangerous. We know so little about whether the patient group, but much else indicates that it is unhealthy to lie in bed for months and years. It is also associated with a lot of complications, says superior to NRK.no. Severe ME sufferers must be protected! The consequences of having to activate or severely ill stimuli going to be quite awful. I get physically inferior of stimuli. Everything from migraine headaches, upset stomach, vomiting, severe pain, spasms, extremely sensitive and just goes completely out of power. When you can not bear the necessary things like go to the bathroom, brush your teeth, and maybe even to eat. Being ME sick is like to have run marathons all the time, without being able to recover. I realize that its not ideal to be silent, it is not healthy for the body, but the consequence of activating is much worse. It might cost ME patients life, or that you get it so terrible that you do not want to live anymore. - Ive been here for 10 years approximately. I lie perfectly still on my back day in and day out. I can bear to touch her arms and legs a little bit, otherwise I lie perfectly still. I did not get bedsores. Its been good to me, says Lynne from the darkness. How wild it sounds, this is the factors that exacerbate their illness. Something my presence may also have contributed. But because Lynne and Kristine had a strong desire not to remain an invisible group, they have set up the camera in the documentary Sick Dark, says director Paul Winsents in Film Phenomenon.
