PRESS STATEMENT Borno deputy Governor reappointed Ameerul Hajj as Governor Shettima approves 21-member committee for 2013 hajj exercise Governor Kashim Shettima has reappointed the deputy governor, Zanna Umar Mustapha as Ameerul Hajj and leader of Borno State’s delegation to the 2013 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Communications, Isa Umar Gusau said in a statement issued today that the deputy Governor is to lead a 21-member committee, which has the Chief of Staff, Government House, Abubakar Kyari as deputy leader of the delegation while the State’s Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Mamman Usman Durkwa is to serve as Secretary of the committee. Other members of the Ameerul Hajj committee include: Hon. Abdulrahman Terab; Hon. Danlami Kubo; Hon. Maina Mustafa Garba; Hon. Dige Mohammed; Umar Mohammed Bukar; Dr. Salma Anas Kolo; Sheik Modu Mustafa; Ustaz Baba Bunu Bukar; Ustaz Muhammad Sani Al-Bilatori; Hon. Hassan Mustafa Aminami; Professor Umar Kyari Sandabe; Dr. Asabe Vilita Bashir; Mallam Gana Badu; Mrs. Zainab Abdullahi who is the State chairperson, Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria; Alhaji Baba-Kura Shettima; Hajja Fati Kakinna; Hon. Junaid Idrissa Kadi and Ismail Ibrahim Bako. Governor Shettima reappointed the deputy Governor to lead the delegation because of overwhelming successes recorded in previous hajj exercises especially that of 2012 in which Borno State Government won a special award and letter of commendation from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for providing the best accommodation to pilgrims. Even though many persons and institutions have commended the Governor for creating the political will by giving necessary approvals resulting in the extra ordinary success of last year’s hajj, Governor Shettima however believes that the deputy Governor and members of his delegation demonstrated uncommon commitment, prudence, selflessness, dedicated affection for the welfare of Borno people. Governor Shettima once again thanked all members of the 2012 ameerul hajj team for their exceptional performance and called on the 2013 committee to work assiduously to surpass past records in line with ongoing policies and programmes of Government aimed at reinventing Borno State for the good of its citizens. The Governor said he has absolute confidence in the committee’s leaders and members and he is so sure, with no atom of doubt, that insha Allah, the 2013 Hajj Exercise will be record more glowing successes. Governor Shettima called on the delegation to ensure equity, justice and fairness to all pilgrims in course of their assignments as done in previous years.
