PRESS STATEMENT END-OF-YEAR MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNMENT Fellow Ugandans, The year 2014 is finally drawing to a close. After the year-long hard work and efforts, this time of our calendar is typified by the annual celebration of Christmas, merry-making. This time around, the extended festivities will also usher us into the New Year, 2015. The Government congratulates all Ugandans upon making it through another year, 2014. As we approach Christmas, all believers are encouraged to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, son of God and savior of the world, who was born, over two thousand years ago. At this annual off-peak period of reflection and spiritual renewal, the Government encourages Ugandans to turn-up in large numbers at places of worship, reach-out and share in homes and communities, to build closer relationships and unity in Uganda, our extended national home and family. The NRM government has created a free and peaceful environment, for our people to be engage in production and prosper. Once again, as the festive season gets under-way, I encourage those who are more prosperous to give to noble causes and to share more with our compatriots in need. At the same time, to ensure safe passage to the New Year, the Government urges all Ugandans to celebrate in a responsible manner. Motorists are particularly reminded to observe traffic guidelines. They should ensure that their vehicles are in good condition, drive carefully and steer clear of drink-driving. Shopping centers and places of entertainment should also remain security conscious to ensure that wrong elements do not exploit any lapses to visit terror on our people. In any instances of lawlessness, the public is encouraged to be vigilant, and to co-operate with the Uganda Police Force, which will be on patrol country-wide throughout this festive. Government of the Republic of Uganda wishes all Ugandans a peaceful, joyous and prosperous festive season…. Merry Christmas and Happy and blessed New Year, 2015 to All our citizens.
