PRESS STATEMENT NDIGBO IN NOLLYWOOD TO CROWN NGOZI EZEONU EZENWANYI NDIGBO NA NOLLYWOOD After four years of critical search for the Royal Queen of Umuada Igbo of Nollywood, IGBO FILM FORUM(IFF) and OHANAEZE NDIGBO NOLLYWOOD (ONN)are proud to announce that the delectable screen goddess and Veteran Actress Ngozi Ezeonu has been unanimously nominated and will be honored with the prestigious Chieftaincy title Award ’EZENWANYI NDIGBO NA NOLLYWOD’(THE QUEEN MOTHER). This is in recognition of her immense contributions in the propagation, promotion and projection of Igbo Culture, and her dedication to duty. It would be recalled that Ngozi Ezeonu in 2011 was officially conferred ‘Igbo Cultural Ambassador’ by IGBO BU IGBO CULTURAL MOVEMENT WORLD WIDE(ICMW). The Founder of Igbo Film Forum(IFF), and President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Nollywood(ONN) Ezeomenani (Dr.) Harris Chuma states “ We are happy to inform the general public that come 27th of August 2014,at NELROSE HOTEL, during the grand opening ceremony of the 4th Nollywood Igbo Film Festival in Asaba, Delta State, Ngozi Ezeonu will be honored with the highly revered chieftaincy title in Nollywood, we have resolved to celebrate Igbo men and women who have been proactive in the promotion of our culture and language using Nollywood as a veritable medium, Ezenwanyi title empowers the bearer to lead Igbo women in Nollywood promoting and protecting their interest, welfare and cultural affairs Delta State Commissioner for Arts and Culture and Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo popularly called RMD will be the toast of many enthusiasts of Igbo language films come August 27, as the organisers of the 4th Nollywood Igbo Film Festival(NIFA 2014) conclude plans to confer on him the title of “Dike Oha na Nollywood” during the three-day festival. The founder of the festival, Eze(Dr.) Harris Chuma disclosed this development, stating that RMD deserves the title, having paid his dues as one of the celebrated actors in Nollywood. According to him, the festival, which is billed to hold in Asaba, Delta State capital from August 27, through 30, is designed to “help film makers reach the broadest possible audience, enable the international film community and general public to experience the power of cinema and promote Asaba city in Delta State as a major filmmaking centre.”
