PREVAIL OVER DISAPPOINTMENTS. “Forget the former things; do - TopicsExpress

PREVAIL OVER DISAPPOINTMENTS. “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past” (Isaiah 43:18, NIV). The Bible tells us that every person, no matter how much faith they have or how good, brilliant or intelligent they are, will face disappointments. It may be something simple like not getting the promotion you hoped for, or not making profit in a business you worked so hard on. Maybe you didn’t qualify for a house or car that you really wanted, or maybe something more serious happened like a relationship not working out despite all your effort and input; the death of a loved one, or some kind of illness in your body or in your family. Whatever it may be, the reality is that we are all going to suffer some setbacks in life. I believe one of the main keys to prevail over disappointments is learning to let go of the past and to surrender our entire problem to God. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 Disappointment is not meant to define your destiny or your future. It is not meant to hold you hostage or weigh you down into the mire of depression and total failure. Don’t give it that power. You must move forward, better things are ahead if you can see through the disappointment and on to the blessings in your life. If you feel “stuck” today with snarky cynicism, crushing depression and fragile insecurity, you may want to examine what you’re holding on to. Be willing let go of past disappointments by choosing forgiveness. Who hurt you? Who wronged you? Who cheated on you? Who oppose, oppress and suppress you? Who manipulated you? Who set you up? Who marginalized you? Who disgraced and disappointed you? Do not forget that disappoints can turn out to be blessings in disguise. Do not forget that great trials are sometimes necessary preparation for great triumph. Do not forget that, “The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit”. Psalm 34:18 No matter how painful your disappointment may be, Gods answer to your question of What now, Lord? always begins with this simple command: Trust me. Trust me. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 Release it to God. Do you need to forgive your offender? Do you need to forgive yourself? Do you need to receive God’s forgiveness? Make the choice today to forgive. Let go of the past so you can prevail over disappointments and experience the bright future God has in store for you! Heavenly Father, search my heart and mind today. Show me any area where I may be holding on to the past. Help me to receive Your forgiveness so that I can extend forgiveness to others and move forward in the wonderful plan You have for me, to enable me claim all my blessings according to the riches in Your glory. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
