PRIME MINISTER NAWAZ SHRIF ROLE FOR PEACEFUL ENVIRONMENT IN THE HISTORY OF UET IS REMARKABLE SAID LT. GEN. (R) MUHAMMAD AKRAM KHAN EX-UET VICE-CHANCELLOR LAHORE (27th October, 2014) The Teaching Staff Association of UET, Lahore organized an excellent farewell party in honour of Lt. Gen. (R) Muhammad Akram Khan Ex-Vice-Chancellor UET, Lahore. Speaking on the occasion Lt. Gen. (R) Muhammad Akram Khan said that there are two distinct personalities who uplifted this university from bottom to top during my golden era of seventeen years. The first personality is Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif who empowered us and we eliminated the politics here in the university from grass root level. He said after the strong decision of Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif we worked without any pressure and things remained on his original position gradually. We eliminated Gonda Raj. He said when I joined this university as Vice-Chancellor students got their degrees after seven or eight years normally instead of four years. We gave it within four years. It’s a great achievement. He further said that we ranked the university in the world ranking. The numbers of girl’s students were very rare but, now fifty percent girl’s students are getting education here in the UET, Lahore. All the credit goes to Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and for peaceful environment his character is remarkable and always remembered in the history of UET. He further said that when he joined this university as Vice-Chancellor there were only two Ph.D teachers available but the number increased now 300 Ph.D teachers. Also Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of Energy Centre in KSK Campus. He has great expectation from UET, Lahore. Second personality is Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh who was Ex-Deputy Chairman Planning Commission. He was also graduate of Civil Engineering here from UET, Lahore. Financially he fully supported to UET, Lahore and we face the circumstances bravely. Due to his financial support UET flourish in a very fast pace. Without financial support we could not participate in the world ranking. So, it’s a great support for us and we always thankful to him. At the end he said that if we want to maintain UET in world ranking we must follow the traditions and rules and regulations we set after a long period. Vice-Chancellor UET Prof. Dr. Z.A. Khan said in his address that we would follow the General Sb Policies and vision he is the torch bearer for us. President TSA Dr. Muhammad Shoaib unanimously approved the resolution of New Auditorium Hall as Gen. Akram Khan Auditorium Hall. All the faculty members appreciated the Gen. Akram services. In the end Gen. Akram thanked all the faculty members for Honorary Ph.D degree and Auditorium Hall for his name. Vice-Chancellor UET Prof. Dr. Z.A. Khan presented shield to Gen. Akram Khan.Prof. Dr. Faiz ul Hassan Vice-Chancellor Education University, Dr. Saleem Shuja Vice-Chancellor Lahore University, Prof. Dr. Abdul star Shakir, Dr. Fiaz Hussain Shah, Dr. Fazeelat Tahira, Dr. Ghulam Abbas Anjum, Dr. Nadeem Feroz, Registrar Muhammad Asif and large number of teachers attend the party.
