PRINCIPLES OF HOPE A 30 DAY JOURNEY INTO HOPE DAY 11 “ IF I JUST COULD UNDERSTAND…” Understanding will never bring hope! In fact, that is why God said, “By faith we understand…” what our God is doing, in and with our lives. (Hebrews 11:3) The harder we try to ‘get a grip’ on our situation, the more the reasonableness of it all eludes us. Our thoughts race through our minds searching for answers and more information. What in the world is God thinking? I’d really like to know why ‘all this’ is happening to me. If I could just understand about this, or about that. Maybe I would handle ‘all this’ better if I was in on what’s going on. None of this makes any sense to me. Have you ever wondered why you feel the necessity to understand? To understand means; grasp the real meaning of something, to gain a clear-cut answer about the reasonableness of this present mix of events, to be thoroughly familiar with the circumstances. Oh, how we humans like figuring out our ‘stuff’ and the ‘stuff’ of our friends as well. It readily lends itself to our desire to be known as having it ‘together.’ We are in control of our own lives, and, by helping our friends get it together, we demonstrate that we are a valued friend. But, there is one problem, our ‘in control’ type solutions don’t seem to last very long. One more time our disappointment sends us back for yet another answer that turns out to not work well either. There is more disappointment and angst, and we still don’t understand! Our world tells us, “I’ll believe it when I see it! But, the Lord God Almighty says, “When you choose to believe Me, you will then “see” all that you never saw before.” It is by faith in Him we will see that “…the source of hope will fill you completely with joy and peace, because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” ( Romans 15:13) So, “be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One Who is speaking, and keep on hoping for His help; that will come as you praise Him more and more.” (Psalm 71: 14) PRINCIPLES OF HOPE A 30 DAY JOURNEY INTO HOPE DAY 11 “ IF I JUST COULD UNDERSTAND…” Understanding will never bring hope!
