PRNDI has found its most memorable conferences are held in collaboration with a local member station. Over the last few years, we’ve partnered successfully in Cleveland with ideastream, in Houston with KUHF and in Louisville with Kentucky Public Radio and Louisville Public Media. We are seeking new conference venues and new partners, both for our 2015 main conference, and a possible mini-conference in 2014. There is no financial commitment. These conferences are self-supporting. However, collaborators allow PRNDI a gateway into the community. They connect us with top hotels, caterers and talent; serving as a local guide. We also invite their ideas on events that give the conference a local flavor. The local host might want to sponsor an event. In Kentucky, there was a reception and an evening at Churchill Downs. In Texas, we plan to watch a baseball game between Houston and San Diego. And in Cleveland, idea stream hosted most of our pre-conference and conference sessions. In return, the host station builds its reputation among the nation’s news professionals and has easy, affordable access to high grade professional development for its staff.
