WHO: Production Centre located conveniently across from Pinewood Atlanta Studios is hosting any person who is already in the film industry or who has an interest in joining the film industry to enroll (Enrollment via email: thestandinacademy@californiamail to receive invoice or via paypal to pay: thestandinacademy@californiamail) WHEN: May 17, 2014 10a-4p Lunch, student workbook & promotional items included FEE: $150 (prepay via paypal is preferred method) WHERE: Production Centre at Pinewood Atlanta Studios 461 Sandy Creek Road Fayetteville, GA WHAT: The first “Stand In & Photo Double Academy” class will be taught at the Production Centre at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayetteville, GA. Actors have stand ins who literally “stand in” for them while cameras are setting up the shot and while lighting is being set. Usually the stand in resembles the actor, and will do the exact actions of his actor during the scene, usually while the talent is busy in hair/makeup, allowing the scene to be completely ready for shooting once the actor steps on set. All those interested in the film industry, as well as those who already have a sustained knowledge, are encouraged to attend. This class will cover not only what it takes to get a job as a stand in/double in the industry but also how to keep a job. The class also details responsibilities, expectations and will include renowned industry professionals from various departments, including Directors Guild of America, Local 479 Electricians, Local 600 Camera Operators & others who will also address the stand-in/photo double role’s importance & how to successfully work with their respective departments. WHY: There is currently no “union” for stand ins/doubles to assist in finding jobs or preparing for the job & the need for these positions is constantly increasing due to the influx of film projects relocating in the Southeast. Currently, there is no class or training offered, and often times one is thrown into the position on set, without understanding responsibilities or roles. The Production Centre will house a database into which each student will be submitted with their stats, skills & demographics. The database will be used as a resource for productions filming at Pinewood Studios and other locations, providing a list of trained stand ins and photo doubles.
