PROF. CHRISTIAN ONYEBUCHI CHUKWU IS NOT A POLITICIAN! This is the argument of our brothers, who are aversed to the holy alliance that endorsed our erudite Professor for the post of governor in the next political dispensation as if the Constitution provides that to be a governor, a candidate must be a politician. If we conceded to this argument, nonetheless, then it stands to reason that Prof. Chukwu is already on his way to making history as the first non-politician to govern Ebonyi State with great positive results. It is even an advantage that he is not a politician because if he was, he would have been playing politics with Ebola, while masked men in white robes carried dead victims of the disease to their early graves on daily basis. Indeed,there is a big advantage in having a non-politician on the saddle as things will be moving on smoothly without the bureaucratic bottlenecks of politics. However, a strong, supportive and viberant Parliament is imperative to complement His Excellencys Executive muscles. Therefore, we need to vote in men and women, who know their onions as members of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, not cash and carry Legislators, whose primary objective of being in Parliament is to satisfy the drumbeats of their stomach and dance kukere on our collective sensibility. Their posters are already struggling for space all over the place. Some have the genuine desire to serve, while others are simply in the race because they had seen fortune smile at past and present Legislators and therefore want to be part of the national cake. We know them. We dont need a marabout to tell us their mind construction. Prof. Chukwu needs a House devoid of parliamentary brigandage. As an erudite leader, he needs a Legislative Assembly governed more by erudition and populist legislations rather than by greed and egocentric permutations. Delegates should therefore ensure that only men and women of integrity and maturity emerge as PDP flagbearers for the House of Assembly election, while the electorate render their overwhelming votes in the general election. For emphasis of clarity; maturity is not a function of age, it is more a matter of experience, occasioned by ones exposure to different environmental variables. At a glance, one can know the contenders and pretenders on their posters. Shakespeare avers that there is no art to study the mind construction on the face, but disappointments of the past have installed radioactive waves on our eyes; we can now xray the mind and boldly identify the rogues in their saintly garb. Afikpo North has the opportunity to prove to Ebonyians, Nigerians and the world that a Mahatma holds the reins of power. We must therefore do everything humanly possible to put the right matrix and mechanics of governance in their appropriate places to enable our brother succeed. Prof. COC is not a politician, yes. But it is not a weakness. Michael Jordan explains it all: My attitude is that if you push me towards something that you think is a weakness, I will turn that perceived weakness into a strength. Politics is a serious business to be left for politicians alone. After all, Aristotles political philosophy portrays the nature of man as political animal. What else? I will not rest until victory is achieved!
