PROF MUTUA, I read the conversation you had with Peter Oduor of The Standard entitled “Prof Makau Mutua: Why I wont refer to Uhuru Kenyatta as the president” and I was amused and annoyed. Every time you have a conversation, interview or write in Kenyan newspapers you display arrogance and highest degree of ignorance about Kenya. Well, let me inform you that Kenyatta is the president of Kenya and he doesn’t require you or anyone of your ilk to refer to him as being so for him to be one. Over years I read what you write in the Kenyan newspapers and have concluded that you are an excellent inciter. You rubbish people with different opinions and demonize those who don’t pay homage to Raila et al. Your obscurantism, tunnel vision and narcissism seem to have taken care of you such that you lack simple knowledge of what informs Kenyan politics. Here are facts though; Raila lost 2013 election hands down. How and why? First, he destroyed his 2007 base by alienating his foot soldiers. I was once his diehard supporter but then I realized he is a self-righteous type of guy who considers himself Mr.-Know-It-All. We tried to tell him to be very careful with land issues in Rift Valley but he closed his eyes and hears rendering himself blind and dumb and thereby “cooking” himself. He chose to lose by alienating his supporters. Second, his members of the firing squad, you included, are drowning him further. When you referred to Kalenjin nation, for instance, as being wanting in the letter that you wrote to them during debate for the new constitution, you destroyed your object of adoration further. You made many voters who would vote for him change their minds. So, not referring to Kenyatta as president won’t salvage Raila. It’s nonsense because Kenyatta will remain the president of Kenya and Raila will remain an opposition roadrunner. Regarding lack of security in Kenya, I want to say that son of Jaramogi and the man of Tseikuru are wrong again! Calling for the removal of KDF from Somalia in what Kalonzo calls strategic withdrawal is a cowardly cut-and-run from the terrorists. Remember that al Shabaab aren’t attacking and murdering Kenyans because KDF are in Somalia, but rather, they are doing their business of killing. It’s just that. Our soldiers are in Somalia pursuing them for the crimes they committed before we were in the banana republic of Somalia. I want to assure you that if we withdraw from Somalia al Shabaab will fight for the coast and northeastern Kenya. In fact our withdrawal will boost their morale. They will probably resort to suicide bombers and all other means to take away the newly discovered oil along the coast and northeastern regions. These terrorists, whose major agenda is to Islamize the world, will bring war right to our door steps! The best thing is for the government is to involve the locals and all Kenyans and work with neighboring countries, and build international coalition to defeat al Shabaab.
