PROFESSIONALS AND PROFESSIONAL POLITICIANS IN NIGERIA Nigeria - TopicsExpress

PROFESSIONALS AND PROFESSIONAL POLITICIANS IN NIGERIA Nigeria is the only country in the world that sacrifice competence for personal interest. I have in several articles started that president GEJ is not a bad leader and does not have bad intentions for this country but hes inability to be presidential in his activities is what has turned so many right-thinking Nigerians against him as against the overwhelming support he enjoyed in 2011. The appointment of former Kano state governor Alhaji Ibrahim Shekarau as minister of education is more of a personal-interest move than appointment meant to protect the interest of the general public. In a country blessed with intelligent scholars who have made their mark in international commodity as far as academic is concern, I see no reason why Shekarau, a first degree holder should oversee the affairs of the most significant sector of the government. What happen to Nigerian professors, PH.D holders or even masters degree holders? When would Nigeria have professionals in politics not professional politicians? Has president Jonathan not learnt his lesson that his a poor leader betrayed by the incompetence of those around him? What a shame! With all sense of responsibility, the idea of president Jonathan to power is wrong, he has mistaken aggressive actions for effective action. In the realm of power, you must learn to judge your moves by their long-term effects on other people. The appointment of Shekarau has further spell the desperation of the president to return to power rather than thinking on how to make progress. Shekarau who was arrested by the SSS as a prime suspect for sponsoring the dreaded religious Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram would not have been celebrated this way by the president when investigation is still ongoing except now that hes playing to tune of the powers that be, he has become a saint. However, the only positive about the appointment is that the former supervising minister would now know how to define his powers as a junior minister. An advise to our erudite son, President Jonathan, if you make show of going against the times, flaunting your unconventional ideas and unorthodox ways, people will think that you only want favour and that you look down on them. They will find a way to punish you (2015 is the way) for making them feel inferior. It is far safer to blend on and nurture the common touch. Robert Greene.
