PROFILE – OGUN STATE SPEAKER HON. (PRINCE) SURAJ ISHOLA ADEKUNBI The Rt. Hon (Prince) Suraj Ishola Adekunbi was born on the 8th Mach 1975, in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, into the family of Alhaji Rahmon and Madam Elizabeth Adekunbi. He is happily married to Mrs. Oluwaseun Adekunbi and their union is blessed with children. His academic career commenced at St. Paul Anglican School, Ayetoro where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in the year 1986, after which he proceeded to the prestigious Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, for his Senior Secondary Certificate in the year 1993. Afterwards, he was admitted into the Federal Polytechnic, Ilarofor, and got his Ordinary National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in the year 1994. He proceeded to the polytechnic, Ibadan, for Higher National Diploma which he completed in the year 2000, with Upper Credit in Mechanical Engineering. In fulfillment of his obligation to his fatherland, he was posted to Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), a subsidiary of the NNPC, in Edo State for his mandatory one year Youth Service in the year 2000. After his Youth Service, he took up a teaching job at the Government Technical College, Idi Aba, Abeokuta. He also had a stint in the state civil service with his appointment as Higher Technical Officer in the Bureau of Transportation from 2004 to 2006 before he resigned. Unrelenting in his resolve to attain academic relevance, Rt. Hon. (Prince) Suraj Ishola Adekunmbi proceeded to the Federal University of Ibadan (UI) where he obtained a Masters degree in Project Development and Implementation (MPDI) in the year 2011. An astute businessman and administrator per excellence, Rt. Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi sharpened his entrepreneurial teeth in petroleum products marketing business under the tutelage of his father who in his life time was the chairman and C.E.O of Al-Rahman Oil & Gas Limited. Having attained a comfortable level of financial independence, he decided to give himself to the service of humanity by offering to represent his Constituency of Yewa North at the Ogun State House of Assembly. This bid was unsuccessful at the first attempt but rather than complacently resigning to fate, he relaunched his ambition in 2011 on the platform of the same political party, action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and he was successful with his election as the Representative of Yewa North State Constituency. Subsequently, he was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the Assembly on July 6, 2011.
