PROFIT: Bible, King James Version And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain. And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the kings laws: therefore it is not for the kings profit to suffer them. What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him? Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself? Yea, whereto might the strength of their hands profit me, in whom old age was perished? He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not; For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God. For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin? Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man. What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death. Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death. In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury. What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun? Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun. Ask counsel of all that are wise, and despise not any counsel that is profitable. What hath pride profited us? or what good hath riches with our vaunting brought us? And if a man love righteousness her labours are virtues: for she teacheth temperance and prudence, justice and fortitude: which are such things, as en can have nothing more profitable in their life. Set not thine heart upon goods unjustly gotten, for they shall not profit thee in the day of calamity. Hast thou cattle? have an eye to them: and if they be for thy profit, keep them with thee. The power of the earth is in the hand of the Lord, and in due time he will set over it one that is profitable. Therefore it is better to be a king that sheweth his power, or else a profitable vessel in an house, which the owner shall have use of, than such false gods; or to be a door in an house, to keep such things therein, than such false gods. or a pillar of wood in a a palace, than such false gods. We have been careful, that they that will read may have delight, and that they that are desirous to commit to memory might have ease, and that all into whose hands it comes might have profit. Then Judas, thinking indeed that they would be profitable in many things, granted them peace: whereupon they shook hands, and so they departed to their tents. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? And profited in the Jews religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me: For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
