PROG AWARDS - BREAKOUT I learnt a lot from being present at the Progressive Music Awards ceremony and I thank Jerry Ewing for inviting us and having Joe and me sit together with him and Gavin Essler. I felt very honoured. The painful truth I have had to digest is that no man is an island. I cannot in conscience any longer seek refuge as an aloof isolationist, smug in the knowledge that The Enid are somehow in a different position to any other band trapped in a leper colony genre none of us want to be in. I realise now that we are all in the same boat and my assumption that the prog world was a happy little family content in talking to itself, preaching to the converted, has been wrong for some time. It appears that we all want the same thing – to breakout – and if we work together we can.
