PROGRAM OF EVENTS – Giostra di Zante 2013 Sunday 16th June to Sunday 23th June Photographic display “Giostra di Zante” of Ioustini Papadatou in the foyer of the Cinema “Foskolo” located at Solomos square. Opening on Sunday 16th June, at 21:00. The display will then be open everyday from 19:00 to 23:00 and during the weekend from 10:30 to 13:00 and from 19:00 to 23:00. Giostra di Zante Thursday 20th June 2013 at 20:30 Location “The Church of our Angels” (behind OTE) – The commencement of Giostra – Display by representatives Friday 21st June 2013 Starting point “Analypsi”, Alexandrou Roma street At 11:00 a.m. - Traditional seven island dancing then a walk through to 21st May street 21st May street At 11:30 a.m. - Traditional seven island dancing outside the Cultural Centre in Zakynthos town Cultural Centre in Zakynthos town At 12:00 - Welcoming all representatives and exchanging gifts At 20:00 - From Saint Sarantes square a passing through the town leading to Solomos square followed by: - The official opening of “Giostra” in the square by the Mayors of each city – Meeting of all groups entered in Giostra – Exhibition of Traditional Greek dancing from the seven islands Saturday 22th June 2013 Saint Sarantes square At 10:30 a.m. - Giostra’s parade through the town to the square of Saint Marco’s where a display of flag bearers and others events will take place Solomos square At 11:30 a.m. – Paying respect to Ugo Foskolo, wreaths will be laid at his monument At 12:00 - Display of “the hawks” by the Slovakian team At 19:30 - Children’s Giostra starting point Saint Sarantes square where they will parade through the town finishing up at the Museum located in Solomos square. The battle will begin. At 20:15 - The announcement of the winner followed by a parade by the group from San Marino Sunday 23rd June 2013 St. Dionysios church At 10:30 a.m. - All representatives pay tribute to our patron Saint, Saint Dionysios at St. Dionysios church At 19:00 – The major event starting point Saint Paul’s square then all teams will make their way down to Solomos square At 20:00 – Solomos square in front of the museum – The battle will begin. The winner will then be announced and the celebrations begin.
