PROGRESS UPDATE Following from last weeks very successful launch of the Queensland Civil Liberties Network (the name chosen at the launch), this is to let you all know that follow up from the meeting is well underway. Well be contacting those who indicated they would like to be part of an organising committee to set a date before the end of the year. ACTION PROPOSALS ADOPTED - For a mass community demonstration on Tuesday February 11, 2014, the first sitting day of Parliament. - For a HUGE community meeting in early March. Possibility of booking City Hall ballroom. - QCYN supports actions by the Queensland Council of Unions and Brisbanes Murri community on Human Rights Day, Dec 10. Details TBA - To draft a media release announcing the launch of the network. WORKING GROUPS ESTABLISHED - LEGAL/RESEARCH - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - MEDIA - YOUTH ENGAGEMENT - PROMOTIONS - An ORGANISING COMMITTEE, comprising working group coordinators, reps from organisations, others wishing to commit to playing an organising role. - Justin has typed up all the contacts from the night. - Max is working on setting up email lists for the working groups. - We will set up an additional email list containing all campaign contacts, for upcoming events. - Waiting on Facebook to approve changing this page name to Queensland Civil Liberties Network So keep an eye on this page and your email inbox for more updates. As stated above, were aiming for our first organising committee meeting before the year is out. I think it would also be good to have the first QCLN General Meeting of 2014 in mid-January. Hopefully well all be back from holidays by then, rested and re-energised for big campaign in 2014!
