PROPANE HELP: Some of you are asking whats going on with Propane. Our expert says: The spot (market) price for Midwest propane briefly tripled over the course of a couple of weeks from about $1.50/gal to almost $5/gal. Its now about $2.50/gal. Suffice to say, wholesale prices probably responded similarly. It tripled essentially because producers had to buy extra to cover their sales commitments so they had to go to the spot market and buy more. The February price curve points to Midwest propane running about $2/gallon. So I would say that’s the relief. Its higher than it has been, but its been a very cold winter and inventories are very low.
