PROPOSED THE LAND OF BOUNTIFUL IN THE BOOK OF M. Tour 4. Dizibanche, Kohunlich ruins & Blue Lagoon of Bacalar almaldstours.us Dzibanche (Land of bountiful in the Book of Mormom) is possibly the largest and most important Mayan settlement in the southern state of Quintana Roo, sitting gently between sloping hillsides. In this landscape there are no rivers or cenotes, but a lot of natural depressions that hold water all year round. Dzibanche, is a clear example of majestic architecture and urban organization. Inscriptions found there demonstrate a formal style, show episodes from the life of a society focused on the fullness of its power; Dzibanche is undoubtedly the best way toexplore the wonders of pre-Hispanic Mexico. Dzibanche (Land of bountiful in the Book of Mormom) is a complex of four architectural groups that probably worked simultaneously and may have had different functions. Dzibanche is the most widely explored, and in it are examples of monumental architecture of the Early Classic period: the Temple VI or lintels, Xibalba Square, Temple I (of the owl), Temple II (of the cormorants) and Temple XIII (of the captives). Kohunlich was discovered in 1967 by a local Maya who stumbled upon looters who had uncovered and were preparing to remove a six-foot stucco mask from one of the temples. Kohunlich possibly dates to the preclassic period. It appears to have been a major city from 300 to 900AD, when this area was one of the heaviest populated areas of the entire Yucatan Peninsula. This is a city that provides beautiful forest walks with toucans, monkeys and flowers. Its architectural style is similar to both northern Belize and the Rio Bec areas. Bring your swimsuit! On the way back, most people have time for a refreshing swim in the natural freshwater Cenote Azul in Bacalar and visit the old Spanish fort San Felipe on the shores of the Lake of Seven Colors. Tour includes: • Hotel pick up 7:00 am and drop off around 8:30 pm • Transportation A/C VAN • Admission fees to both archaeological site and cenote park • Professional certified LDS tour guide • Liability road insurance, parking and toll road fees • Bottle of purified water (unlimited) & lunch mexican traditional food (two meals)
