PROTEST OUTSIDE CIVIC OFFICES NEXT TUESDAY AT 4PM As you may be aware, at the monthly meeting of Waterford City and County, a motion was proposed which called on the government to immediately reverse domestic water charges. The motion also asked that the government stop the roll out of metering and redirect the €539m loan finance from the National Pension Reserve Fund towards fixing the massive leakage problems and interruption to supply. It also asked that the government recognise that Irish Water is not fit for purpose since it is unaccountable to the Minister and therefore to the Oireachtas and the citizens of this State, and that it prevents Irish Water from any further excessive spending of taxpayers money, However the council voted by a majority of 15 to 11 to accept an amended version which called for clarity in relation to ability to pay and the pricing structure. We are calling for the original motion to be reinstated in full. We do not want clarification as to water charges. We want them and Irish Water to be abolished. We will be joined by members of Portlaw Against Water Tax and possibly some protestors from Waterford City. We will need a big turn out if we are to turn this around- Please be there and show your support.
