PROUD Scotland fan Rod Stewart revealed he’d hate to see the break-up of the Union. Rock idol Rod, 68, hopes Scots will snub independence by rallying behind the ‘No’ push in next year’s referendum. But the veteran singer fears many young voters could be swayed to say ‘Yes’ because of stirring Mel Gibson blockbuster Braveheart. Rod, whose dad Robert was from Leith, Edinburgh, said: “I’d hate to see the Union broken after all these years — and I don’t think it will happen. “There may be three or four pints of Scottish blood in me, tartan pride. “It’s always been a spiritual home — but as I don’t live there I shouldn’t comment on independence. “If it’s good for the Scots I’m happy. “I hope it’s not a lot of kids thinking ‘Braveheart’.” The music legend joins the likes of Ewan McGregor, Billy Connolly and Sir Alex Ferguson in the ‘No’ camp ahead of the make-or-break poll on September 18, 2014.
