PROVINCE OF BULACAN BULACAN BAGS HALL OF FAME AWARD IN DRRM Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando receives the Hall of Fame-Regional Gawad Kalasag Award for the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council from Deputy Administrator Brig. Gen. Romeo Fajardo of the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) during the first Regional DRRM Summit at Heroes Hall, Mini Convention Center, City of San Fernando, Pampanga held recently. CITY OF MALOLOS— A total of 3, 611 Bulakeño college students from schools excluding state colleges in the province received P 3,000 as part of the “Tulong Pang-Edukasyon Gabay sa Bagong Henerasyon” the Provincial Government of Bulacan’s scholarship program, during the assembly of scholars yesterday at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium. According to the Provincial Administrator’s Office, a total of 9,378 received scholarship grants from PGB, state colleges and from other schools scholars combined. The remaining 5,767 from state colleges who received their scholarship grant during the enrollment period is comprised of 4, 945 students from Bulacan State University, 429 from Bulacan Polytechnic College and 393 from Bulacan Agricultural State College. The scholarship program is divided into two categories, the academic scholar and Educational Assistance (Indigency Program). Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that to avail the academic scholarship, students must have grades on academic subjects not lower than 90% of the General Weighted Average for high school graduates and 2.00 for students in college. Those who passed in this category will receive P 5, 500. On the other hand, educational assistance (Indigency Program) is provided for the needy Bulakeños with a dream to finish studies but are not capable due to poverty. They only need to pass all of their subjects to continuously avail of the program. Those who belong in this category will receive P3, 000. Ms. Catherine Innocencio, Asst. Department Head of the Provincial Administrator’s Office said that financial assistance received by the said scholars who belonged to other school category last Sunday is for the first semester only. “Yung para sa susunod na semestre maari nang mag-submit ang ating mga mag-aaral na mula sa BSU, BPC at BASC ng kanilang mga requirements bago ang enrollment dahil sa kanila certificate ang ibinibigay natin at ito na ang magsisilbing paunang bayad nila sa mga paaralan na ‘yon, pero ‘yung sa mga mag-aaral na sa iba nag-aaral, ang submission of requirements ay pagkatapos nilang maka-enroll,” Innocencio added.
