PSA for those of you caught up in the Facebook Messenger app social hysteria...not sponsored by Facebook, just common sense: 1. If youre freaking out about the permissions the app needs, take a look at the Facebook apps permissions lol. Youve already allowed all of the same permissions and MANY more. No one freaks out about that? Not to mention, the requested permissions make sense considering the apps features.... 2. Those permissions are the same on iOS, theyre just handled differently. Android present them up front and while iOS waits until a permission is needed within the app to prompt you for it (when you want to record a video or do a voice call it will ask for access to your mic, for example). Dont even come at me we Android security issues lol. (I used FBM in iOS before I switched to Android) 3. The app is not new. Its been around for years, and supported SMS integration at one point. If you used FBM youd probably already have it installed, if you dont...dont install it. Simple as that, no need to also spread ignorance. Im surprised we havent been merged to WhatsApp yet, but maybe thats the next step? Then again, Instagram is still independent.
