PSALM 119 - Aleph 1. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. 2. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. 3. They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways. 4. Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. 5. O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! 6. Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments. 7. I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments. 8. I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly. The above section is define as Keepers of the law however as it is written and declared that Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: (Gal 3:13) then we need to consider what the law means. We know that in reading the Old Testament that it is clear that the law kills so then I have to ask if there were perhaps a great misunderstanding in those who administered the Old Testament law because when you read the above section it portrays to me at least the opposite of death. So then did God give the laws in order that it kill us was that the reason in which the law was given or is it possible that in given us the law the intention was for it to be a reflection and expression of God Himself. Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. There are many debates in Christianity on the verse below by those who seek to use this verse to maintain a noose around our necks by keeping us under the letter of the law and by those who know and understand that the letter of the law no longer affect us but have not being able to explain what it mean that the law has being fulfilled. In this study it is important that we all seek the Lord in prayer, and allow God to speak to us individually so that we can share with the group what has laid on our heart. This is not going to be a argument of I am right and you are wrong it is a study that hopefully will bring out to us an understanding of the meanings in this Psalm and how it relates to us today. Please meditate upon the first eight verse of this Psalm and consider and answer if you can what is the testimony of God? Is it a testimony to God for His people to die or to live? Why did Christ reduce the law/commandments to two? Is the Aleph section of Psalm 119 speaking of the letter of the law or can you sense a spiritual aspect in it? If God is the same yesterday, today and forever is His testimony likely to change? How has Christ fulfill the law? There may be more question on this section throughout this week What are the laws of God that we are keepers of? What was the purpose of the law? Is there a difference in the letter of the law and the spirit of the law? Which does God want us to be observers of?
