PSALM 37: ~DO not ENVY others, rather COMMIT and DELIGHT in the LORD~ Some verses frm this Psalm can help us understand that God doesnt only give to the rich... He Wants to give to us all, but off cause its not just going to rain down on us, there are certain things we have to do first. Just think... For instance, if u want a car, can u just walk up to the dealer and claim the car that ur heart desire? I - DONt - THINK - SO!! Or if u see other ppl living in riches an abundance do u envy them?, Do u sometimes think... What does praying help, God doesnt listen any-ways? And then do u get angry with God when u dont get results? Ok then lets look into this Psalm... We should Never envy evil ppl, even though some may be extremely popular or excessively rich. (And its important to remember, we Dont know How others obtained all that they have! Theres a lot of stuff going on that we dont know about). Lets carry on... No matter how much they have, it will fade and vanish like grass that withers and dies. Those who follow God live different frm the wicked, and in the end, will have their Treasures in Heaven. What an Un-believer gets on earth may last a lifetime (that said keep in mind we are all mortal), but what u get frm Following God (the saved), lasts Forever! (37:1-2) David gives us the recipe to prosper and have our hearts desires full fill (v 4-5). He calls us to take delight in the LORD and to Commit Everything we have to Him and then Trust Him. Off cause we have to be obedient and Wait on God, His time is not Our time. To DELIGHT in someone means to experience Great pleasure and joy in his or her presence. But this can only happen when we Know that person Well. Thus to Delight in the LORD, we Must know Him better. Knowledge of Gods Great Love for us will indeed give us Delight. God also Delights in us the same we should in Him. The person in whom God Delights is one who follows God, trust Him, and do His will. God watches over and makes firm every step That person take (v23-24) And to COMMIT ourselves to the LORD means entrusting Everything - our lives, family, jobs, possessions... Everything to His Control and Guidance. To Commit ourselves to the LORD means to trust in Him (v 5), Believing that He Can care for us better than we can ourselves. We should be willing to Wait Patiently (v 7) for Him to work out what is Best for us (not what We want, because sometimes what We want can actually harm us). Remember what HE wants. If we know, trust and delight in God, we will Know what His will for us is, and we will pray accordingly. God also Delights in us the same we should in Him. The person in whom God Delights is one who follows God, trust Him, and to do His will. God watches over and makes firm every step That person take (v23-24) And here we get to the place where We get ugly... Do u Rage and get Angry with God if He doesnt give u what u prayed for? I hope not, because these are very destructive emotions and wont get u any closer to what u desire!! They reveal a lack of Faith that God Loves us and is in Control (He holds the whole world in his hands, Everything. The Heavens and Earth and Everything in and on it!!). We should not worry, instead we should TRUST in God, giving ourselves to Him for His Use and Safekeeping. (Why should God give if we dont have Faith and Trust that He Can??) If we Trust in God and His Goodness, we will find Peace. Where do u focus ur attention? If our focus is out of bounce with God, if we Dont Commit, Delight, Trust and Wait on Him, we can Not claim the promise ask and it will be given. It surely dont apply then!!! And another thing, if u ask and God supply, but u dont do with it what u should, dont ask again, God most probably wont listen. Example; if u ask money for fuel and u waste it on booze, do u think God should listen next time ur car comes to a stand still without petrol?... If ones answer is yes to that Q - Oh my, I really think one should seriously take stock of ones life!!! Hope this made sense.
