PTIs Press Release - January 23, 2015 PTI Central Information Secretary, Dr Shireen Mazari, has expressed shock over the Presidencys efforts to shelter Najam Sethi and his family from serious financial charges against him by FBR. Transparency International Pakistan has written to President Mamnoon Hussain pointing out how the Legal Wing of the Presidency had admitted an illegal petition on behalf of Sethis family which casts a shadow of corruption over the office of the Presidency. Mazari said this is simply not tenable - that the Presidency should enter into what is an effort to conceal ill-gotten financial gains by Sethi and his family. Mazari expressed regret that Sethi has used his influence to prevent publication of the Transparency International Pakistans letter to the President in the media. She demanded the President take immediate action not only to disassociate from this contentious move to shelter corruption but also to punish those responsible for dragging the Presidency into this issue.
