PUBLIC HEARING RECAP: Last night we had a public hearing to take - TopicsExpress

PUBLIC HEARING RECAP: Last night we had a public hearing to take comments and listen to ideas and suggestions regarding the proposed public safety building. This was a very different meeting than last year. It was respectful and civil from both sides of the issue. I want to give you details of what happened at the hearing: *There were about 73 people in attendance including council and staff. *20 people spoke both for and against the building. *The public hearing lasted about 2 hours. *The Mayor hosted the meeting. It was an interactive discussion with questions being asked to the Mayor and council. *The meeting was filmed and will be available on the city website within the next few days. On November 4th, you will have the opportunity to vote at the ballot for/against the Public Safety Building. We will continue informing the community about the project to make sure you have all of the information you need to make a solid vote on November 4th. This is what we have scheduled: Pleasant Grove City will hosting an open house on Tuesday, September 30th from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the Old Recreation Center (200 South ,100 East). The purpose of the open house will be to share all the input and information the city has gathered the last 6 months leading up to the bond election. Large signs are currently be made that will show a rendering of the Public Safety Building and how it would fit in the proposed location. These signs will be placed at several locations around the city. Absentee ballots sent out around October 4th. Voter pamphlet mailed out between Oct 3rd and 28th. Early Voting Oct 21st – 31st. Public Hearing for proposition Oct 28th. Bond Election- November 4th. Thank you to everyone who came out last night. I am glad the work has been done this year by volunteers, staff and the professional firm MOCA to reduce square footage, bring down the price by $5 million dollars, use city owned property for the location and analyze details of this project to create a building our community and public safety employees will be proud of for many years. I am excited to move forward with this process! Please let me know if you have any questions!
