PUBLIC NOTICE The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited, (BTC) wishes to advise its customers that value added tax (VAT) is not to be charged at the point of purchase. Meaning, customers should not pay VAT when they purchase mobile top up. BTC’s VAT charging for mobile customers is at usage. Therefore, customers pay VAT on mobile text messages, phone calls and data plan usage. Customers that have been charge VAT on mobile top-up by retailers or vendors should call BTC at 225-5282 to report any instance of abuse or misuse.
