PUBLIC PARTICIPATION REQUESTED FOR PROPOSED CITY OF OROVILLE PROJECTS OROVILLE CA – JUNE 6, 2013 – The City of Oroville will conduct a public meeting to discuss the Feather River Boulevard revitalization project and the Oroville Arts, Cultural and Entertainment project on Monday, June 24, 2013 starting at 4:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers located at 1735 Montgomery Street, Oroville. For several months the City has been working with consultant groups and the public regarding both of the proposed projects. The Feather River Boulevard revitalization project envisions enhancements along Feather River Blvd. from Oro Dam Boulevard. to Montgomery Street and ultimately connecting with the Gateway Center. Improvements may include street widening, street calming features, pedestrian improvement features, bicycle safety enhancements and decorative landscaping. The proposed Oroville Cultural and Entertainment District project is bordered by the Feather River to the north, along the river embankment from Bedrock Park on the west, to the Veteran’s Memorial Park on the east, with a portion of the project reaching down to Montgomery Street on the south. The Arts, Cultural and Entertainment District project will combine the natural resource and beauty of the Feather River, along with general retail and commercial entertainment, several museums, and the Green Line Tour to bring the identified areas together as a cultural and event complex for various community activities and annual events such as Feather Fiesta Days, the Salmon Festival and the Christmas Light Parade. The Feather River Boulevard revitalization project discussion will be from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. and the Oroville Cultural and Entertainment Complex District discussion will be from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. These will be the final public discussions prior to City staff presenting information with preferred alternative modifications to the City of Oroville Planning Commission and final recommendations to the Oroville City Council.
