PUNGENT POINT #1421 – The people of God are to live in a militant stance. They are to have upon themselves “the whole armor of God” (Eph 6:10-17). They are to appropriate the provided weaponry of God, designed to throw down imaginations and thoughts that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God (2 Cor 10:3-4). They are required to “stand against the wiles of the devil” (Eph 6:11), “standing fast (1 Thess 3:8). They are to “resist the devil” (James 4:7; 1 Pet 5:7-8), wrestle against principalities and powers (Eph 6:12), and “fight the good fight of faith” (1 Tim 6:12). In spiritual life, which is the superior life, sleeping is lethal, a lack of awareness jeopardizes, and misdirected living is deadly. No believer can afford to be tardy in appropriately responding to the various influences he faces. Divided affections are unlawful, and a life that is not focused on the Lord is a wasted life.
