PVFD controlled burn 08/10/14 Today I was honored to join the PVFD & EMS units for a controlled burn used for a training excercise. The primary focus was on door entry & control for the year 1 Firefighters. While I was not there to suit up (nor qualified to do so) it was still a fascinating experience. From the pre-scene briefing & fire fighting plan to the early stages which involved venting the structure and setting preliminary internal fires for suppression training it was all seemed very complicated. At least to me it seemed complicated. To those controlling the scene, backing up the trainees, the teachers, the EMS, the folks manning the pampers - from where I was standing they made it look simple. Everyone had 2 jobs with job #1 being safety and job number two being whatever they were assigned to do. Professional all the way folks. I could not be more impressed or proud of you! Thank you for all you do! Oh - and if the Chief will let me join you again I would to see all of this again sometime soon. Thank you, Patrick Dugan
