Gunmen were reported to have attacked the Paris office of a French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, killing 12 people and injuring seven in an apparent Islamist fundamental attack. Three masked attackers opened fire with assault rifles in the office in executing a police officer in the street outside before escaping by car. Chancellor Merkel of Germany expressed alliance with the French victims in quoting..“This horrible act is not only an attack on the lives of French citizens and the domestic security of France,” Ms. Merkel added. “It also stands as an attack on the freedom of expression and the press, a core element of our free, democratic culture that can in no way be justified.”
