Pacific Voyaging Society Waka arrival at Okahu Bay, Orakei 7th Dec 2014. This was a fantastic opportunity for Whanau to witness the arrival of a fleet of six Waka - two from PVS, as well as Auckland Haunui Waka & three Pacific Island Waka - Uto Ni Yalo from Fiji, Gaualofa from Samoa & Marumaru Atua from the Cook Islands who arrived from the Worlds Congress in Sydney. PVS two Waka Hokulea and Hikianalia have a strong connection with Aotearoa. In partnership with the NZ Maritime Museum, PVS will deliver educational programmes to promote & foster caring for the Worlds Oceans - critical for our earth in the 21st century.
