Page: 9 P.N.G MUST DO MORE TO FIX WEAK REGULATIONS By NELLIE SETEPANO PAPUA New Guinea has a long way to go to fix its weak health regulatory system and have a proper authority to oversee all medicine and cosmetic imports. World Health Organisation pharmaceutical technical officer, Uhjin Kim, highlighted these shortcomings at a two-day meeting on the review PNG’s laws on medicines and cosmetics in Port Moresby. Ms Kim told participants that having an effective comprehensive regulatory system to monitory medical products would be tough because it was a complex system that needed a lot of work, given that PNG lacked expertise.
